Boal Mansion Museum Docent Program - Apply Now for
Summer


Who we are: We are the Boal family and
their 1789 home, a community museum since 1952. We
tell the story of our community to visitors from all
over the world. it is the story of eight
generations of Boals who helped found Boalsburg, Penn
State and much more! Part of what we show is the
Columbus Chapel, the most important Christopher Columbus
site in North America, imported form Europe by Boal
descendants of Christopher Columbus.
What you can do: Students apply (below),
and join a team of volunteer tour guides (docents) we
develop each summer. Email or telephone
now. You can apply with your friends. Then
bring your Mom and Dad , or come alone for a special
orientation tour with refreshments at 10 AM on a
to-be-scheduled Friday
in April (on Fridays when there is no school). Or schedule
your own visit. Prospective docents also are welcome to
apply for the program at any time of year.
- Learn to show visitors this unique American and
international heritage. Guide three half-days a week through the summer
(Get subs for vacations). Join in special events like docent parties,
concerts (Early May), festivals (Memorial Day) and a
grand ball in October. Gain valuable experience in public speaking,
history and the fine arts.
